Recipe Ingredients

- Chickpeas - use a 400g tin, low salt if possible. Drain the chickpeas, rinse them well, and shake off as much water as possible.
- Olive oil - or sunflower or canola oil.
- Paprika - use smoked paprika (not sweet).
- Cumin - use ground cumin.
- Garlic powder -
- Salt - use sea salt flakes.
How to Cook Chickpeas in the Air Fryer

- Add all the spices and salt to a mixing bowl and mix until combined.

- Rinse and drain the chickpeas and shake off as much water as possible.

- Add the chickpeas to the spices and mix well. Add the olive oil and mix well.

- Place the chickpeas in the air fryer and air fry for 10-14 minutes at 200°C (390°F), shaking the basket halfway through.
Serving Suggestions
- Soup topper: Add some extra flavour and texture to vegetarian-based soups.
- Salads: Toss them into a salad to add a pop of colour and extra flavour. They pair particularly well with a kale caesar salad.
Substitutions
- Spices - you can substitute any spices listed in the recipe card below or leave them out entirely. Turmeric, cayenne pepper, and curry powder also go well with chickpeas. Grated lemon zest also works well!
Storage

Air Fryer Chickpeas
Equipment
- Air Fryer
Ingredients
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon ground cumin
- ¼ teaspoon paprika
- ¼ teaspoon sea salt flakes
- 400g can chickpeas (14 ounces)
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
Instructions
- Add the spices to a medium-sized mixing bowl and mix well to combine.
- Drain the chickpeas into a colander and rinse well under cold running tap water. Shake off as much water as possible. Add them to the bowl with the spices and mix well. Add the olive oil and mix well.
- Tip the chickpeas into the air fryer basket and air fry for 10-14 mins at 200℃ (390℉), shaking the basket halfway through.
