What are Bliss Balls?
Bliss balls are raw ingredients mixed and then shaped into small balls. Many of them are date-based, like this recipe, but other recipes do not use dates. Depending on what you put in them, they are also known as protein balls, energy balls and energy bites.

Recipe Ingredients

Note: The full quantities are shown in the recipe card below.
- Medjool Dates - this is the main ingredient that binds the bliss balls together.
- Peanut butter - I use pure, crunchy peanut butter without hidden nasties, but smooth peanut butter also works well.
- Almond Meal - you can make almond meal out of almonds if you have a high-speed blender.
- Cocoa Powder - to add a hint of chocolate and offset the sweetness of the dates.

- Scoop a small handful with your hands and shape into walnut-sized balls.
- The bliss balls can be eaten immediately or stored in the refrigerator for later.

Common Questions
Ensure the Medjool dates are fresh, sticky, and not dried out. If they are dry, soak them in warm water for five minutes. Depending on the size of the dates you use, you may need to add another one or two if the mixture is dry.
If it is too sticky, just add a little more almond meal.
Yes, you could use oat flour or grind other nuts to make flour.
